Lavender Hill Vineyards is located on a very private and stunning south-facing hillside location, offering ample sun, rich soil and perfect climate conditions. The property is above and adjacent to the respected and acclaimed A. Rafanelli Winery, notable for its cult-like Zinfandels and award winning Cabernets. With the seventh harvest now behind us, Lavender Hill Vineyard's grapes were picked on September 3rd and 19th, 2007. This was the second full harvest for our newer second block. Total crop for 2007 was 4.3 tons, up over a ton and half from 2006. Since the 2005 vintage, we are delighted to be working with the Passalacqua Family Winery where the first Lavender Hill vineyard-designate Primitivo was released in March 2007 and sold out within 3 months. The 2006 vintage is expected to be released in early 2008.
We also sell fresh-cut lavender to the public, including a PYO (Pick Your Own) harvest. For a very reasonable cost, you can cut as much as you desire. Our varieties are the fragrant and popular Lavandula Intermedia "Grosso", with a small section of "Provence." With its long wands and rich purple bracts, Grosso is sought for its strong aromatic qualities and is often dried or distilled to produce essential oils. PYO is available by appointment from approximately mid June through July, when the Lavender is in peak bloom. Situated on a coastal range ridge and overlooking the spectacular
Lavender
Hill Vineyards LLC is the joint vision and operation of domestic partners Bill
Carney and Scott Monroe who have been residents of Healdsburg since early 1994.
Upon acquiring this 25 acre parcel in 1996, the two have transformed a
beautiful, rugged hillside into a modest scale farm operation with crops going
into local Sonoma county agricultural products. Additionally, the two make
the dramatic estate which they designed and built on the property - "Villa
Arriba" - their home and center for entertaining visitors from around the world.
