Our Mediterranean-style climate and superb location is conducive to rapid
plant growth; anything we put in the ground immediately flourishes. As
evidence of this, zucchini from our garden swept first, second and third places
at the 2005Healdsburg Farmers' Market Giant Zucchini Contest!
Additionally, Scott's zucchini took second and third place at the 2006 Farmer's
market, being narrowly edged out by a professional farmer from Windsor.
See the monster zucchinis here. Much bigger than a garden, but not quite a farm, Lavender Hill Vineyards

We have two blocks of grapes: Primitivo and Zinfandel. Block One was planted
in spring of 2000 and consists of approximately 1.2 acres of St. George
rootstock with a mix of Primitivo and "Old Vine" clone Zinfandel. Block Two, of approximately
two acres, was just planted in spring of 2004 and will yield its first
vintage in 2006 from the "Deaver" clone. To see a picture of our Zinfandel vineyard, click

Manzanita Creek Winery.
Passalacqua Winery is producing the 2005 vintage and beyond.
We've had some preliminary tastes of the wine from our vineyard, which
prompted us to coin the term "ZinGasm!"™.
Pictures of the 2006 grape harvest can be found
here. Here's also what Passalacqua Winery winemaker Margaret Davenport had to say
bout the 2005 vintage in her Summer 2006 newsletter:
"Lastly, we’ve made
Primitivo with grapes from our friends Scott and Bill at Lavender Hill
Vineyards, high above West Dry Creek Road. The vineyard is young and the
resulting wine is vibrant and racy, with a raspberry-cranberry component
overlaying a unique spiciness. We only have three barrels this
year—thankfully, they’re planting more!"
In 2001, we planted the first of three separate blocks of Lavender on our
property. In 2002 and 2003, we planted two more blocks. Today, we
have approximately 3,000 plants under cultivation. We focus our efforts
on providing fresh cut lavender to the crafts and essential oils market.

Also, our Pick-Your-Own (PYO) method is available to the
public from approximately mid-June through August.

Given our ideal Mediterranean climate, our grove is made up of the
traditional Tuscan varieties: Leccino, Frontoio, Pendolino. We
planted the olives in 2000 as 15 gallon specimens. The
trees are now 15 feet tall and 15 feet wide. Our 30 trees will yield
approximately 20 gallons of oil when harvested in late 2006. Click
here to see a picture of our olive grove.
